EUDR - European Union Deforestation Regulation

The EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) is the European Union regulation that sets rules for the placing, making available and export of certain products, with the aim of reducing the link between EU consumption, deforestation and forest degradation.

Companies covered by the regulation must demonstrate, through due diligence, that the products are legal, deforestation-free and do not originate from areas subject to forest degradation after 31 December 2020. The regulation covers, among others, the supply chains for soy, cattle, palm oil, cocoa, coffee, rubber and wood, as well as certain derived products.

Products covered

  • Soy
  • Beef
  • Palm oil
  • Cocoa
  • Coffee
  • Rubber
  • Wood (specific conditions apply)

The EUDR marks an important shift in access to the European Union market, requiring companies to strengthen traceability, information gathering, risk assessment and documentary evidence of compliance.
