Arroz de Sarrabulho à Moda de Ponte de Lima, a central element of the municipality’s gastronomic identity, has recently been recognised by the European Union as a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG).
This European certification confirms the authenticity of the recipe, respect for traditional preparation methods, and its value as a gastronomic heritage of national and European relevance.
Agricert was the delegated certification body in this process, ensuring verification of compliance with the requirements set out under the European TSG scheme, namely with regard to proven tradition, technical specifications and traceability.
On 16 January, the Municipality of Ponte de Lima, in coordination with the Confraria Gastronómica do Arroz de Sarrabulho à Moda de Ponte de Lima, held the official presentation of certificates to the restaurants included in this certification, publicly marking their integration into the European system for the protection of traditional specialities.
